Here’s a quick and to the point explanation of what can be done with this StableBit DrivePool: use this Covecube product to bring together multiple physical hard drives into a pool that works as a large virtual drive. You can use this pool, this virtual drive, like you would any other drive. Copy files to it and access files stored on it just as you would with a regular drive.

Download an installer and run it; a setup wizard will show up and guide you through all the steps you need to take to install StableBit DrivePool. When you’re done with the installation and you launch StableBit DrivePool for the first time, you will be invited to enter an activation ID, purchase a license, or activate a 30-day, fully functional trial.

On the interface you’ll see a list of non-pooled disks; these are storage devices that you could use to generate a pool. A notification informs you that “adding a disk to a pool doesn’t erase or alter the existing files on that disk.” To add a disk to a pool, you need only click the Add button.

A Congratulations prompt will show up when you create your first pool (it will only be shown once). This prompt informs you that the new pool starts off empty, that you can copy files to it and use it just like any other drive, that you can add more disks to the pool if you ever run out of disk space, and that files remain on the disk when you add it to a pool.

Please note that you may have to assign a drive letter to your pool before you will be able to use it. You can do that from Computer Management or straight from Disk Management.

StableBit DrivePool can be used to designate a shared folder as a duplicated folder. This comes in handy if one drive files. You see, duplicated files will be safe even though the drive fails.

Visit the official StableBit DrivePool download page and at the bottom you’ll see a “Tweet to Win” section. It says that Covecube gives away free retail licenses every week.

Covecube’s StableBit DrivePool works as advertised. It is a properly good and easy to use disk pooling application.

Pros

Thanks to a setup wizard, you’ll quickly install StableBit DrivePool on your PC. The Congratulations prompt that shows up when you create your first pool provides useful information. StableBit DrivePool has a user friendly interface; it helps you easily create and manage pools. Add any disks(s) you want to a pool. The trial version is fully functional.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial, trial reminder on the interface.
